I've never had problems consoling into the routers though. I used Teraterm and it worked well for me, however I could just console once into the hosts when the microcore image is decompressed and otherwise it would simply say "Connection Refused". I did a lot of research on the same and trust me the localhost binding didn't do me any good. I've had similar issues where my putty console closes after 2 seconds. I use the GNS 0.8.2 on a Windows 7 64-bit. I use the linuxmicrocore3.4.1 as well as linux microcore 2.10 and the ASA 8 asa802-k8 5500 series. I've had issues with putty for ASA firewall and Qemuguest.
